Meet Dr. Bird and Associates

Dr. Suzanne Bird

Dr. Bird is one of a handful of dentists in the United States who is both an orthodontist and a pediatric dentist. She specializes in doing orthodontics on children of all ages. She closely follows children's facial growth and space needed for permanent teeth. She often can guide her patients' growth and development by starting orthodontic treatment at an early age if needed.

Dr. Bird graduated with Honors from the UNC School of Dentistry. She obtained a master's degree in pediatric dentistry from The Ohio State University and Columbus Children's Hospital. She completed her education by obtaining a Certificate in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from the University of Missouri in Kansas City.

Dr. Bird is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry.

In her spare time, Dr. Bird enjoys traveling to tropical destinations with her husband, Jake, and two step children, Emily and Jacob. She has a huge soft spot in her heart for four-legged furry friends.

Dr. Angelica Wong

Dr. Angelica Wong is happy to call Charlotte her home after practicing and residing in Northern Kentucky, Southern California and upstate New York. She received her DDS from the University of Michigan and then completed her pediatric dental residency at University of Southern California and Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Dr. Wong is originally from Peru and therefore is fluent in Spanish. Throughout her education, Dr. Wong has made an effort to help those in underserved populations by treating children of migrant farmer in Michigan, volunteering for the Crowe Indian Reservation in Montana, and treating Hispanic children throughout various dental clinics in Los Angeles.

On a more personal note, Dr. Wong is not only an experienced pediatric dentist, but also an incredible cook. In her spare time she enjoys riding bikes, ballroom dancing, playing badminton, watching movies, and traveling. She also enjoys spending time with her son Tyler and husband Jim. Like Dr. Bird she loves dogs and has an adorable Pomeranian named Cheeto.

Dr. Charles Cangemi, Jr.

Dr. Cangemi has provided anesthesiology services for many Pediatric Dentists, General Dentists, Oral Surgeons and other Dental Specialists for a wide variety of surgical procedures. Dr. Cangemi was the first mobile practicing Dentist-Anesthesiologist in the state of North Carolina.

Dr. Cangemi completed dental school at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He then completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. While in private practice he completed his certification in intravenous sedation. He completed an anesthesiology residency and a Masters Program in anesthesiology at Ohio State University. This comprehensive hospital-based program provided training in all areas of medical anesthesiology.

Dr. Cangemi is an active member of the following organizations:

  • Anesthesia Advisory Committee
  • North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners

Dr. Cangemi publishes and lectures on numerous topics in Anesthesiology. He is certified in Pediatric Advanced Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Basic Life Support.

Dr. Cangemi enjoys boating, classic automobiles, model railroading, Apple computers, electronics and landscaping projects with his son-in-law Bryan. As an avid animal lover, he contributes to a wide variety of charities including those benefiting animals, and rescues both dogs and cats. He resides in Mooresville with his wife and their six dogs and two cats. They have one daughter, one granddaughter and one grandson.
